Grow Near Award

The Near Northwest Management District recognized significant new projects and investments today with their Grow Near award.  “Commercial property values have grown from $700 Million to more than $1.9 Billion since 2004.  New commercial construction added $15.9M in value last year.  Each of these developments signals major investments and employment opportunities for our area,” said NNMD President Wayne Norden before announcing the awards.

The 2021 Grow Near Awards went to:

SND Family Dental opened on Antoine nearly ten years ago, the practice has flourished and an office expansion and renovation was completed in 2021.  Dr. Sumit Jindal accepted the award and noted that the area’s growth inspired this new project.

Trammel Crow for the Seton Lake Logistic Center on State Highway 249, an industrial facility. Warehousing and logistic centers are a growing industrial sector, and the Near Northwest is ideally situated for such development. This project includes a 255,704 SF facility.  Trammel Crow Company presented NNMD with a $5,000 donation to support Alan Rosen’s Annual Toy Drive, check out the video of this annual initiative to help underprivileged area students.  Jeremy Gardener, Principal, accepted the award, noting that they already have the building fully leased to Pollock Orora.

Petereit Investments for the expansion and improvements of Inwood Village Shopping center at 6464 W Little York.  Petereit Investments is also making improvements to the Inwood Shopping Center (Foodarama on Antoine/Victory).  Raymond Petereit, Christine Egan, and Monica Solomon accepted the award.

Aquario Dental and Braces for the opening of Aquario Dental and Braces in the newly renovated Inwood Village Shopping Center.  The Aquario Dental practice is focused on providing excellent pediatric dental care for children.  The waiting room and treatment area are kid friendly and welcoming, with gaming devices and a small theater area.  Enayat Astani, DDS, CAGS accepted the award.

Olive Tree Property Holdings for the grand opening of The Life at Grand Oaks.  Olive Tree Property Holdings purchased the 556-unit multi-family community and completed an expansive renovation.  Improvements range from kitchen and bathroom updates to new siding and common-area improvements.  The initial investment is $78M, and Olive Tree will hold and manage the property.  Ian Bel, Managing Principal, David Poretz, Clay Boyer, Corey Grab, and Brennan Sanders, Vice President accepted the award.

Jai Jawan Jai Kissan Inc. for Home Run a shopping center with foodmart and gasoline pumps located at 8300 Antoine.   They focus on a functional, cost-effective design that results in a quality finished facility, complete with store fixtures and equipment.

Norden summarized NNMD’s 2021 successes “We’ve made tremendous strides in making the Near Northwest District the place to live, work, play, learn and invest, and we will continue to make even greater strides,” said Norden. Goals for 2022 include efforts in improving public safety and security, creating greater recognition of the area, encouraging business growth, and a completion of a sidewalk construction project along W Little York Road.  Watch recap here.
