Population
NNMD has a total population of 119,000 residents, and population is expected to increase based on U. S. Census Bureau projections. Projections by the Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) predict the highest growth in the area bordered by Cole Creek, West Tidwell, and the Burlington Northern Railroad.
Race and Ethnicity
The NNMD’s population is 55.6% white. African Americans account for 24.5% of the population. In the District, 57.9% of residents report their ethnicity as Hispanic population (people whose ethnicity is identified as Hispanic or Latino may be of any race). Overall, minorities account for 44% of the total population in the District.
Income
The District has a notable proportion of high-income households. The 2019 U.S. Census Bureau survey reveals that 10.2% of households earn between $100,000 and $149,999 annually, and 5.9% earn between $150,000 and $199,999. Additionally, 3.2% of households in the district earn an annual income of $200,000 or more, representing the most affluent segment of the population.
We have 13.6% of households in the District who have an annual income between $50,000 and $74,999. This represents a significant portion of the district’s population falling within this middle-income bracket. Additionally, 10.6% of households earn between $75,000 and $99,999 annually, contributing to the middle-income segment.
Employment
According to the 2019 U.S. Census Bureau survey, the retail trade sector emerges as the largest employer in the District, accounting for 5.7% of the total employment. This suggests that a large sector of the district’s workforce is engaged in retail-related activities, such as sales, customer service, and store operations.
The second-largest employment sector in the District is construction, employing 5,6% of the workforce. This indicates that the district is significantly involved in construction-related activities, such as building, renovation, and infrastructure development projects.

We have hundreds of different job roles in the District and collectively, these sectors contribute to the diverse employment landscape of the NNMD. Additionally, over 40% of individuals who live and work within the District have some college attainment.
Land Use
The District is predominantly residential with industrial and commercial uses concentrated around railways and major thoroughfares. Land Use along West Little York, U.S. Highway 290, and State Highway 249 is mainly commercial. Antoine Drive is both commercial and residential.
