Current and Upcoming Capital Projects in NNMD

Strategic Planning, Leveraging Funds and Working Together

We had great presentations on capital improvement projects in the District at the June 4th Business Network Breakfast.

Jim Webb with The Goodman Corporation kicked things off with an overview of the District’s capital planning strategy, a review of completed and current District projects, an update on projects in planning – including the $7.5M West Little York/Victory/TC Jester Project, and North Houston Rosslyn Phase 2 – , and a summary of pending project funding requests.  To date, the District has secured $13,632,525 in Federal funds with a required local match of only $755,775.

The District also coordinates Harris County and the City of Houston.  Eric Martinez and Mark Crossland with Commissioner Ellis’ office discussed two projects: a bike-pedestrian bridge across White Oak Bayou at De Soto Street, and new sidewalks on North Houston Rosslyn and traffic signals at Majestic Oaks/the entrance to Alabonson Park.

A major project that will impact the area is the planned reconstruction of Antoine Drive from US 290 to West Mount Houston, including a flyover of the BNSF tracks at W Tidwell.  Rowaidah Ayoub with the City of Houston outlined the overall project that is broken into two segments: from US 290 to Victory Drive, and Victory Drive to West Mount Houston.  The District is adding design enhancements at certain intersections from Pinemont to West Mount Houston.
